The saints honoured as patrons: of a trade, a need, an illness, a country. Search for what you need, or look through the topics below. Every patronage is taken from a Catholic source, named on the saint’s own page.
Our Lady is the patroness of nations too: under the title of her Assumption, principal patroness of France (Pius XI, 1922); under the title of the Immaculate Conception, principal patroness of the Philippines (Pius XII, 1942) and patroness of the United States (approved by Pius IX in 1847).
Where these come from: the fact sheets of Santi e Beati (santiebeati.it), the Catholic dictionary of saints; the letters of the popes, on vatican.va and in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis; Vatican News; and the Catholic Encyclopedia. Each saint’s page names the source of each patronage.
