Who they were
The commemoration of Saint Potitus, martyr, who, after suffering much at Sardica in Dacia, now Bulgaria, is said by tradition to have finally died a martyr, pierced by the sword.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 14 January as a martyr who, tradition says, died by the sword after suffering at Sardica.
