Satyrus of Milan
saint
Feast: 17 September (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Milan, the burial of Saint Satyrus, whose merits are recalled by Saint Ambrose, his brother: not yet initiated into the mysteries of Christ, having been shipwrecked, he did not fear death, but, so as not to leave life without having received the sacraments, once saved from the waves he joined the Church of God; a close and mutual affection bound him to his brother Ambrose, who buried him beside the holy martyr Victor.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 17 September as the brother of Saint Ambrose, who sought baptism after surviving a shipwreck.
