Radegund
Frankish queen consort
Feast: 13 August (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Poitiers in Aquitaine, in France, Saint Radegund, who, queen of the Franks, took the sacred veil while her husband, King Clothar, was still alive, and lived in the monastery of the Holy Cross at Poitiers, which she herself had built, under the rule of Saint Caesarius of Arles.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 13 August as a queen of the Franks who took the veil and lived in the monastery of the Holy Cross she built at Poitiers.
