Who they were
In the monastery of Silos in Castile in Spain, Saint Dominic, abbot, who, after first leading a hermit's life, rebuilt this almost ruined monastery, restoring there monastic discipline and the practice of unceasing praise of God.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 20 December as the abbot who rebuilt the monastery of Silos and restored its discipline.
