Cunigunde of Luxembourg
Luxembourgian noble and saint (978–1039)
Feast: 3 March (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Oberkaufungen in Hesse, in Germany, Saint Cunigunde: together with her husband, the Emperor Saint Henry, she brought many benefits to the Church, and after his death she herself passed to the Lord in the convent to which she had withdrawn as a nun, making Christ her inheritance. Her body was laid with every honour beside the remains of Saint Henry at Bamberg.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 3 March as the wife of the Emperor Saint Henry who, after his death, became a nun and died in her convent at Oberkaufungen.
