Robert Bird
Feast: 11 May (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Robert Bird was put to death at Tyburn on 4 August 1540, hanged, drawn and quartered with the Carthusian lay brother William Horne, the Carmelite prior Lawrence Cook, the Benedictine Thomas Epson and Giles Heron.
In 1913 the Catholic Encyclopedia placed him among the martyrs passed over in the first English cause, whose case had been sent to Rome in a second one.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
One of those executed at Tyburn in 1540 under Henry VIII.
The cause
The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.
