Who they were
At Trier in the Rhineland in Austrasia, in the territory of present-day Germany, Saint Modoald, bishop, who built and adorned churches and monasteries, founded many communities of virgins and was buried beside his sister Severa.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 12 May as a bishop of Trier who built churches and monasteries and founded communities of virgins.
