Who they were

Michel Coquelet was a priest of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate serving in Laos. With his confrere Father Louis Leroy he refused to leave his mission stations in the mountains of Xieng Khouang, going on praying, teaching the faith and caring for the sick.

He was killed in hatred of the faith on 20 April 1961, at the age of thirty, and is one of the martyrs of Laos beatified in 2016.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

A young Oblate missionary who would not abandon the poor of the Laotian mountains and died for the faith.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
