Who they were

Wacław Koźmiński was born at Biała Podlaska on 16 October 1829. Studying fine arts in Warsaw from 1845, he lost his faith, and in 1846 was jailed by the tsarist police on suspicion of subversion. He became a Capuchin, Brother Honorat, and was ordained on 27 December 1852.

A preacher in Warsaw's churches and a wise spiritual director, he served penitents and comforted prisoners, and founded several congregations. Confined by the authorities to the friary of Zakroczym and later Nowe Miasto, he died there with a reputation for holiness on 16 December 1916, aged 87.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A young man who lost his faith, found it again, and spent his life leading penitents and prisoners to God.

The cause

Honorat Koźmiński has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Capuchins: the cause of Blessed Honorat Kozminski.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
