Who they were

Bolesława Lament was born at Łowicz in Poland on 3 July 1862, the eldest of eight children; as a child she saw three of her siblings die. She opened a tailoring workshop with her sister and was soon put in charge of a shelter for the homeless.

Amid political upheaval she founded the Missionary Sisters of the Holy Family, to promote Christian unity, help the destitute and form girls in the Christian life. She died at Białystok on 29 January 1946, aged 84.

The miracles

The Dicastery's biography does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

She worked for the unity of Christians and for the homeless and girls no one else looked after.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.

“The death of her seminarian brother prompted her to return to the religious life – Honorat Koźmiński encouraged this return – and she later founded a congregation that soon spread and took her to Russia though its revolution forced her departure during World War I.” — Wikipedia
