Who they were

Vicente Queralt Lloret, a priest of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians), was born in Barcelona and devoted himself especially to popular missions and youth ministry. When the Spanish Civil War broke out in 1936 his community's house and church were burned by anarchist militia, and he went into hiding, moving between refuges as he felt himself pursued.

He was eventually traced to the house of a benefactress, arrested, and shot on the night of 30 November 1936, aged 42; his body was buried in a mass grave and never recovered. He was beatified in Madrid in 2017 together with 38 companions of the Vincentian Family.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

Vincentian priest shot during the Spanish Civil War on 30 November 1936; beatified in 2017 among 39 martyrs of the Vincentian Family.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
