Who they were

Guillaume Saultemouche was a Jesuit lay brother from Saint-Germain-l'Herm, in the Diocese of Clermont, France, who had served in the Society of Jesus since about 1581. He was known for his prayer, simplicity and obedience.

As companion to Father Jacques Salès at Aubenas, he was seized with him by Calvinists and, on 7 February 1593, embraced the dying priest and was himself stabbed to death, calling on the name of Christ. He was about thirty-six.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

A Jesuit brother who died beside Jacques Salès as one of the martyrs of the Eucharist of Aubenas.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
