Wicterp d'Augsbourg
Feast: 18 April (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
St. Wicterp, bishop of Augsburg, and a former monk and abbot at Ellwangen, now in Wuerttemberg, was made bishop in 736 or 738. Above all, he kept a watchful eye on the lives of his clergy, and was their model in all the virtues that, according to the words of the Apostle, befit a servant in the sanctuary. He died about the year 770 and was buried in the church of St. Lawrence at Epfach, where the remains lay till 980 when they were raised by Bishop Henry. In 1489 they were removed to the church of SS. Ulric and Afra, where they still rest.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
