Wiborada
anchoress, Benedictine nun, and martyr
Feast: 2 May (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
In the territory of Sankt Gallen in present-day Switzerland, Saint Wiborada, virgin and martyr, who, having withdrawn to a small cell beside the church of Saint Magnus, provided for the needs of the people and, for her faith and her state as a religious, met death at the hands of the invading Hungarians.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 2 May as a recluse at Sankt Gallen killed by the invading Hungarians for her faith and religious state.
