Who they were
Near Estella in Navarre, in Spain, Saint Werekond, abbot of Irache, who, a monk from a tender age, driven by the desire for perfection, spurred his monks on by his example, devoting himself to fasts and vigils.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 8 March as abbot of Irache who spurred his monks on by his example of fasting and vigils.
