Waltrude
Belgian saint (612-688)
Feast: 9 April (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Mons in Neustria, in the territory of present-day Belgium, Saint Waltrude, who was the sister of Saint Aldegund, wife of Saint Vincent Madelgarius and mother of four saints; imitating her husband, she consecrated herself to God and took the monastic habit in the monastery she herself had founded.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 9 April as the wife of Saint Vincent Madelgarius and mother of four saints, who became a nun in the monastery she founded at Mons.
