Who they were

At Winnipeg in the State of Manitoba in Canada, Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky, bishop of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and martyr, who, for having secretly exercised his ministry among Catholic Christians of the Byzantine Rite, suffered much in his homeland at the hands of the persecutors of the faith and died in exile, joined to the sacrifice of Christ.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 30 June as a Ukrainian Greek-Catholic bishop who suffered for his secret ministry and died in exile at Winnipeg.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
