Who they were
At Cimiez, also in Provence, Saint Valerian, bishop, who, raised from the monastery of Lérins to the episcopate, set before the people and the monks the examples of the saints.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 23 July as a monk of Lérins made bishop of Cimiez who set the examples of the saints before his people.
