Torquatus
5th bishop of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux
Feast: 31 January (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Saint Torquatus is a historically uncertain figure listed as a bishop of the diocese of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, after Saint Eusebius I and before Saint Paul, who took part in the Council of Valence in 374. Nothing at all is known of his life, but he is cited in the liturgical books of his diocese down to the 17th century.
His feast was kept on 1 February, and in some places he was remembered on 31 January instead.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
Listed as a 4th-century bishop of Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux, a historically uncertain figure cited in the diocese's liturgical books until the 17th century; also remembered 31 January.
