Who they were

Tomás María Plana Aguilera was born on 17 April 1909 at Barcelona, made his profession as a Claretian on 15 August 1926 and was ordained priest on 26 May 1934.

He was killed at Sabadell on 27 August 1936, and Pope Francis beatified him on 21 October 2017 among the 109 Spanish Claretian martyrs.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints records that he was killed at Sabadell on 27 August 1936 during the persecution in Spain.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
