Who they were

Tochumracht was an Irish virgin, invoked by tradition by women in pregnancy, who is thought to have lived before the eighth century. A small parish, Kiltoghert in the diocese of Ardagh, is named for her, and expectant mothers still go there to ask her protection.

Very little reliable information about her survives. She is named in the martyrologies of Tallaght, of Gorman, and of Donegal, which places her feast on 11 June.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

Irish virgin invoked by pregnant women, associated with the parish of Kiltoghert in the diocese of Ardagh; feast 11 June.
