Who they were

At Hisarlik in Bithynia, in present-day Turkey, the passion of Saint Theodoros, monk of the monastery of Saint Sabas in Palestine, priest and martyr, who, at Constantinople, together with his brother Theophanes, for having defended the veneration of sacred images, after suffering scourging, imprisonment, exile and the torment of having some verses cut into his forehead, which earned him the name Graptos, "branded", finally died in prison.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 27 December as a monk of Saint Sabas branded on the forehead for defending sacred images, who died in prison.
