Tertullinus
Christian martyr
Feast: 4 August (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Likewise at Rome on the Via Latina, the suffering of Blessed Tertullinus, priest and martyr. At the time of the Emperor Valerian he suffered a cruel beating with clubs, the burning of his sides with fire, the breaking of his jaw, stretching on the rack, and the severing of his tendons. He completed his martyrdom by being beheaded.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Dominican Martyrology (1955) remembers him on 4 August.
