Terenzio di Imola
Italian presbyter
Feast: 30 July (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Terenzio was born in Imola, where he was educated at the cathedral and ordained deacon. He then went to Faenza to serve at the hospital and church of Santa Croce, devoting himself entirely to the poor and to divine worship.
A miracle in which he healed a blind man of Imola, sent to him by an angel, brought him such admiration that, troubled in his humility, he withdrew as a hermit to the wolf-infested forest of San Pietro in Laguna north of Faenza, where he continued to work healings. Warned by an angel of his approaching death, he called together the hermits of the area, gave them counsel, and died peacefully. He was buried at the nearby church of the Celletta amid a great gathering of the people, which the historian Lucchesi says amounted to a true canonisation. His feast is kept on 30 July.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
