Who they were

Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski was born at Chełmża in northern Poland on 22 January 1913, entered the seminary at eighteen and was ordained on 4 March 1937. From 1938 he served as curate in Toruń.

During the war he was taken to various prisons and camps, but never failed in faith or in his ministry; struck by illness while caring for the sick, he died in 1945 after long suffering.

The miracles

As a martyr, beatified without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

A young priest who caught his death nursing fellow prisoners.

The cause

Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Diocese of Torun: Blessed Stefan Wincenty Frelichowski.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
