St. Anthusa of Mantinea
Feast: 27 July (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At the place of Mantineion near Eskihisar in Honorias, in present-day Turkey, Saint Anthusa, virgin, who, a nun, was beaten with rods and condemned to exile under the emperor Constantine Copronymus for having defended the veneration of sacred images and, having finally returned to her homeland, died in peace.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 27 July as a nun beaten and exiled under Constantine Copronymus for defending the veneration of sacred images.
