St. Abban of New Ross
Feast: 27 October (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Abban of New Ross, also known as Ewin, Abhan or Evin (names later turned locally into Stephen, Neville and Nevin), lived at the same time as his namesake St. Abban of Magheranoidhe. He died at Ross in County Wexford.
Some writers confused him with St. Evin of Monasterevan in County Kildare, author of the Tripartite Life of St. Patrick, but the Catholic Encyclopedia treats them as two different men.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Abban honoured at New Ross in County Wexford.
