Who they were

At Poznań in Poland, Blessed Sancja (Janina) Szymkowiak, virgin of the Congregation of the Daughters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows, who, also during the war, devoted herself with every care to assisting prisoners.

The miracles

The Roman Martyrology does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers her on 29 August as a sister of the Daughters of Our Lady of Sorrows who cared for prisoners during the war.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
