San Marsus
Italian presbyter
Feast: 4 October (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
According to the account of Saint Peregrinus of Auxerre, first evangelist of that city, Pope Sixtus III (432-440) sent the Roman priest Peregrinus to help the persecuted Christians of Gaul, consecrating him bishop, together with a group of companions: Marsus, a priest, Corcodomus, a deacon, Jovianus, a subdeacon, and Jovinianus, a lector. Reaching the territory of Auxerre, the group converted many pagans. No further detail is given about Marsus's own life or death.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
