Who they were
Saint Ereptiolus was the first bishop of Coutances in the 5th century. He evangelised the local pagans and had a first wooden church built. Around 435 he is said to have evangelised Cherbourg, where around 436 he founded a hospice, the house of God, beside the Bucaille stream.
