Rudesind
Galician bishop and abbot
Feast: 1 March (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
At Celanova in Galicia in Spain, Saint Rudesind, formerly bishop of Mondoñedo, who worked to promote and renew monastic life in that province and, having laid down the office of bishop, took the monastic habit in the monastery of Celanova, which he then governed as abbot.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 1 March as a bishop of Mondoñedo who renewed monastic life and became abbot of Celanova.
