Roger le Fort
French catholic archbishop and blessed (1285-1367)
Feast: 28 February (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Roger le Fort is said to have become bishop of Orleans through a joke: mocking the canons' eagerness for office, he said he too would like to be a bishop, and was taken at his word and elected. He was later moved to Limoges and in 1343 became archbishop of Bourges.
He did much to spread the feast of our Lady's Conception, and at his death at about ninety left everything to educate poor boys. Miracles were reported at his tomb. Butler notes that his veneration was never formally approved.
