Who they were

Raymond Cayré was a diocesan priest of Albi, born at Puylaurens on 24 December 1915 and baptised eight days later; he studied at the minor seminary of Castres and then at Albi, and was ordained priest on 28 January 1940. Taken prisoner that June and held in Stalag VI G at Bonn, where he served as chaplain, he was arrested by the Gestapo on 7 August 1944 and died at Buchenwald on 22 October 1944, aged 28. He was beatified on 13 December 2025 by Pope Leo XIV.

The miracles

The source does not describe the miracles approved in the cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

He served as chaplain to his fellow prisoners until the Gestapo arrested him, and died at Buchenwald at 28.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
