Who they were
Rafael Machuca Juárez de Negrón was born at Estepa near Seville on 30 April 1881 and was assistant priest of his native town. He was killed on 31 August 1936. Pope Francis beatified him on 18 November 2023.

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

He died with about a hundred other people, most of them priests.
