Proietto di Parenzo
Who they were
Proietto and Accolito were two young Christians martyred at Parenzo (Poreč) in Istria at an unspecified date in the fourth century; nothing more is known of their lives. Their relics were placed in the city's cathedral in 1277 and rediscovered and consecrated in 1361 by the bishop, after help was obtained through their intercession against the plague.
The relics were examined again in 1622, 1666 and 1729, when documents finally settled long-standing confusion between Saint Proietto of Parenzo and the identically named bishop of Clermont, and between the two Istrian martyrs and other saints of the same names venerated in Auvergne. Their feast is kept on 25 January.
