Who they were

In a squalid galley at anchor in the sea off Rochefort in France, Blesseds Marcel Gaucher Labiche de Reignefort, of the Society of the Missions, and Pierre-Joseph Le Groing de la Romagere, priests and martyrs: the first from the territory of Limoges, the other from Bourges, during the French Revolution they were delivered in hatred of the faith to inhuman imprisonment, dying afterwards exhausted by starvation and disease.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 26 July as a priest martyr who died of starvation and disease on a prison galley off Rochefort during the French Revolution.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
