Pedro de Subiaca
Feast: 31 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Bl. Peter, abbot of Subjaco, presided over that abbey in the days of Pope Silvester II (999-1003) and contributed to its prosperity and name by writings, by embellishing the church of the abbey and by increasing its resources. He was captured by enemies of the monastery and imprisoned in the castle of Monticelli. He escaped, but was recaptured and kept in duress because he refused to surrender one of the possessions of the abbey. According to some accounts he was deprived of his eyesight, and died in prison in the year 1103.
