Paul I of Constantinople
Bishop of Constantinople
Feast: 6 November (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
Commemoration of Saint Paul, bishop of Constantinople: repeatedly driven out by the Arians for his Nicene faith and several times restored to his office, he was finally banished by the Emperor Constantius to Göksun, a small town in Cappadocia, where he is said to have been cruelly strangled in an ambush laid for him by those same Arians.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 6 November as a bishop of Constantinople repeatedly driven out by the Arians for his Nicene faith and exiled to Göksun.
