Who they were

Paul Favre-Miville was born at Vinzier, Haute-Savoie, on 17 April 1939. In 1984 he entered the Trappist abbey of TamiƩ, and in 1989 he went to the monastery of Tibhirine in Algeria, where he made his solemn profession in 1991.

With six of his brothers he was kidnapped on the night of 26 March 1996; their remains were found about two months later. The monks had chosen together to stay in Algeria despite the terror. They are among the 19 martyrs of Algeria.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

A monk of Tibhirine who chose to stay and was killed.

The cause

The cause continues. No postulation address is published here yet. Favours received through this person’s intercession, and offers of help, are best sent to the religious order or congregation they belonged to, or to the diocese where the cause was opened; either will pass them to the postulation.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. If you know the postulation’s own page, tell us and it will be added here.
