Offa di Benevento
Feast: 31 December (not on the universal Roman calendar; kept in the Roman Martyrology or local calendars)
Who they were
St. Offa, abbess of St. Peter’s in Benevento, in Italy, had lived several years in seclusion on a hill near Capua and gained such a high reputation for sanctity that she was called to rule the house above mentioned. She was distinguished for her love of Christ crucified and for her mortification; even in time of sickness she subsisted on vegetable food only. She died in the presence of her sisters in the year 1070.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: she has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
A Benedictine Martyrology (1922) remembers her on 23 July.
