Who they were

At Constantinople, Saint Nicholas the Studite, monk, who, driven into exile several times because of the veneration of holy images, finally became hegumen of the monastery of Studios and died in peace.

The miracles

There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 4 February as a monk exiled for the veneration of holy images who became hegumen of Studios.
