Who they were

In the village of Tomhom near Bangkok in Thailand, Blessed Nicholas Bunkerd Kitbamrung, priest and martyr, who, a distinguished preacher of the Gospel, was thrown into prison at the time of the persecution against the Church and, while helping the sick, himself struck by tuberculosis, died gloriously.

The miracles

As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.

Why that counted as sanctity

The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 12 January as a Thai priest and martyr who died of tuberculosis in prison while caring for the sick.

The cause

Nicholas Bunkerd Kitbamrung has been beatified; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: Oblates of Mary Immaculate: the cause of Blessed Nicholas Bunkerd Kitbamrung.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
