Montanus
Who they were
Montano was a priest of Sirmium in Pannonia, married to Massima. During the persecution of the emperor Diocletian, the couple were thrown into the water and drowned at Sirmium (today Sremska Mitrovica) for professing their faith in Christ, about the year 304.
The old martyrologies (Syriac, of Florus, of Ado, and the Roman) do not fully agree on the details of their end, but agree that Montano was a priest and Massima his wife, and that both were martyred together. Their veneration was known across North Africa; the Roman Martyrology keeps their memory on 26 March.
