Who they were
Commemoration of Saint Metranus, martyr at Alexandria in Egypt, who under the emperor Decius, having refused at the pagans' command to utter impious words, was savagely beaten by the bystanders and then stoned outside the city.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
Why that counted as sanctity
The Roman Martyrology remembers him on 31 January as a martyr stoned outside Alexandria under Decius for refusing to utter impious words.
