Memorius
priest and martyr in Troyes
Who they were
Nemorio, also called Memorio, was a deacon of Saint Lupus who lived in the region of Troyes, in Champagne, and, according to tradition, died a martyr in 451 during the invasion of Attila's Huns. A legendary Life of little historical value places his martyrdom at Saint-Mesmin, said to be named after him.
He is first mentioned, under the name Nemorio, in the martyrology of H. Greven, from where his memory passed into later martyrologies and finally into the Roman Martyrology at 7 September. On that day he is honoured in the diocese of Troyes under the name Memorio, together with unnamed companions.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
