Meldroc de Vannes
Who they were
Meldroc was the fifth bishop of Vannes, in Brittany, living in the 7th century; his existence is debated among scholars, some of whom suggest he may have been included among the bishops through religious veneration rather than an actual historical role in the diocese. Almost nothing is known of him beyond his presumed Irish origin.
A chapel dedicated to him stands in the grounds of the castle of Locmeltro at Guern, in Morbihan, attested from the first half of the 15th century and rebuilt in the 17th; declared a historic monument in 1925, it fell into ruin and was restored in 1950. His feast, kept locally and among the saints of Brittany, falls on 27 June.
The miracles
There was never a formal cause: he has been honoured as a saint since before the Church's formal processes began.
