Priest of the Congregation of the Mission, martyr of the persecution in Spain
Who they were
Born at Tardajos, near Burgos, on 14 September 1869 and ordained priest on 1 April 1893, he was a missionary in Cuba and, on returning to Spain, a preacher of spiritual exercises. Pope Francis beatified him with José María Fernández Sánchez and his companions on 11 November 2017.
The miracles
As a martyr he was raised to the altars without a miracle.
Why that counted as sanctity
The decree on martyrdom counts him among the priests of the Congregation of the Mission killed for their faith in 1936.
