Who they were
Maurus, or Maur, was a Roman child martyr of the 3rd century. According to tradition, in the year 283 he suffered martyrdom together with his father Claudius, a tribune of ancient Rome who had converted to Christianity, his mother Hilaria and his brother Jason. They had all converted, together with other Roman soldiers, on learning of the martyrdom of Chrysanthus and Daria.
