Who they were

Paolo Roasenda was born in Turin on 22 May 1906. He took a doctorate in classical literature and taught for some years before entering the Capuchin novitiate at Fiuggi, where he took the name Mariano. He was ordained priest in 1945 at the age of thirty-nine.

He served as a chaplain in hospitals and prisons, a teacher and a confessor, and above all as a preacher, using radio, cinema and especially television to spread the greeting 'Pax et bonum'. He died in Rome on 27 March 1972 after a serious illness.

The miracles

The Church has not yet approved a miracle in this cause.

Why that counted as sanctity

A Capuchin preacher who brought the Gospel to a wide audience through Italian television.

The cause

Mariano of Turin has been declared Venerable; the cause continues. Favours received, and offers of help, go to the postulation, the office that carries the cause forward: The cause of Padre Mariano da Torino.

A miracle approved by the Holy See is needed for the next step. Reporting one begins with the postulation.
